"Pool Sonnet" by Noelle Kocot

Lost was once one seen.  Leaves trembleIn the background.  Love is a vehicle ofLight, wheeling across the sentient grass.Without me, who would suffer?  I saidAn age of things.  Then, I backed away,Went toward the world.  The people lookedAt me, naked, without a float on the water. There was a tree—I ate of it, as we allWould have.  That's why there didn't needTo be anymore tests.  The light shone throughMy chlorined hair.  The smell was delicious,And the mirror was fogged.  A sandwichWas there for us to munch on.  Then, we droveOff somewhere, I, them, and with each other.Photo by freefotouk
