“Moroshka” by Karina Borowicz

In an old country
a wild plot of dill gives itself
inch by inch
to the thin white sun
woodsmoke and diesel
moroshka she calls out cloudberry
again and again as if
it's all that makes us human
next to her
another old woman sits
selling warm milk in silence
bottles of the pearly liquid
lined up beside her small
slippered feet
